How would you define a Conservative Democrat and a Liberal Republican?

Who would you vote for and why? Would you ever cross the line outside of your party's affiliation should they ever change their traditional agenda from conservative to liberal or from liberal to conservative? Be honest with yourself. How would you define a Conservative Democrat and a Liberal Republican?Actually both are somewhat misnomers. Ignoring the labels of democrat and republican, a conservative is someone who has “socially” conservative values. And a liberal is one with “Liberal” social values. In any political group of people you can find both liberals and conservatives. In the Republican Party the liberals are usually called centrists. The Democratic Party calls conservatives middle of the road or “mainstream”.

Making a generalization – most conservatives (socially) don’t always see the republicans as watching out for them. It is just that of both the alternatives – the republicans are closer to social conservitivism then the democratic party is. And likewise most social liberals are democratic because it represents their overall view better.

If you vote your conscience or lack thereof, you will at times have to vote outside the party line.

  • Accidentally joined the American Independent Party?

While renewing my drivers license at the DMV, I accidentally joined the American Independent Party thinking I was joining a middle of the road independent thinkers party. Once I got home some research revealed that they are a group of neo-cons who are trying to circumvent the establishment clause of the constitution and force christian prayer in schools.

How do I change my affiliation?

And yes I know I am a jackass for not doing my researchAccidentally joined the American Independent Party?they are giving my new party , the INDEPENDENCE party A BAD NAME,

Just go to the board of elections and tell them you want to change to %26quot;unafilliated%26quot;Accidentally joined the American Independent Party?you need to fill out a voter registration application to change your party affiliation. You can find one online. Print it out and mail it to the appropriate office in your state (the address is listed on the application).Accidentally joined the American Independent Party?Heh. That happens a lot in CA. You want to register as %26quot;non partisan.%26quot; Changing party affiliation is easy, just fill out a voter registration form (link for CA, below).

How to throw Third Grade Front made of Third Class leaders?

Every political expert or even common man understands and realizes that none of the political party or group is likely to secure majority in the forthcoming election. This election result will definitely produce fractured mandate. Undoubtedly there will be horse-trading and mad race to capture power. Political parties will not hesitate to cheat voters to capture power in the government or to capture money in lieu of support they extend to others in formation of government. Everyone in India understands that coalition government is now inevitable and hence it is very much desirable that special rules are formulated to face such critical situation and it should be made mandatory for all regional political parties to form a cohesive group or associate with some national party

Why not president of India or Chief Election Commissioner or National parties jointly decide before election how to form a National Government in case of fractured mandate? It will be wise to frame rule of game before the result is declared. During last two decades India has faced many critical situation due to coalition government and it inherent weakness and it therefore essential that proper laws are enacted to face fractured mandate without any delay so that any government does not feel handicapped while taking any step in the interest of the country.

If possible government should promulgate ordinance that only national political parties (specifically two or three having national presence and having secured at least 20% of votes polled in previous elections) can take part in national election and regional political parties can contest election at state level and only individuals without any party flag can participate in municipal level.

If any individual (or group of individuals or regional small political party) choosing to contest election for MP he must declare the name of national party he is or he would like to be associated with if he is elected by voters and he should be barred by legal provision for changing his connection with other political party after his election as MP for the full tenure of five years. Every candidate should declare his preferred leader (PM) in the nomination form. Such declaration should be made mandatory in nomination papers and after votes are polled and result is declared, it should also be ascertained through nomination papers of victorious candidates as to how many MPs belong to which group.

Any group which has more than 20 to 30% of MP of total strength should be entitled to form the government and during all proceedings and voting of the Parliament only such MPs will be entitled to cast votes . Those MPs who have not declared their association or affiliation with any national parties must not be allowed to vote in the Parliament.

In this way we can ensure stability of government and stoppage of premature fall of government. MPs will be constrained to become part of national parties and adopt a disciplined path and discard the habit of changing of political party for self interest or in greed of money and power.

I propose that proportionate representation from all National Political parties be taken together to form a national government. Out of every 10 MPs of a cohesive group, one representative will be selected. In this way there will 54 ambassadors. They will decide their common Minimum Programme under the guidance of President of India and other chief unbiased dignitaries like Governors or Chief Justices of states or Chief Justice of India.

Political Parties having more than 10 Ambassadors will form part of core cabinet and political parties having more than 20 or even 15 ambassadors will hold key ministry either singularly or jointly. There will be a consensus Prime Minister who may elect three or five Ambassadors of his choice. In case unanimous PM is not available, rule may be framed before how to select PM to avoid controversy. If needed, there may be provision for two or more PMs representing a group of state they like or they are assigned to.

In no case there should be any special status or place for any group or any political party like opposition benches or ruling party chairs. In the hall of Parliament all MP should behave like ambassadors of the country and they must strive hard to remove the psychology of ruler or opposers in the Parliament.

Mental setting of MP should change and they must take part in all sitting of all sessions. MP remaining absence without real sickness must be punished severely and those MP who remain absent or create problem in the house of Parliament should be barred from contesting election at lest for six years.

Those candidates who do not secure at least five percent of votes polled should be barred from contesting election at least for ten years and those political groups who do not secure at least 10% of votes polled should be forced to contest only state level election.

How many people have recently gone politically independent?

And what party did you leave?

Many of my friends and I are independent and have our own individual personalities and differences of opinion, but we can have intelligent polite conversations on politics without anyone screaming, name calling, and generally having a temper tantrum like a 3 year old.

I'm independent of any political party affiliation, because I see how many brainwashed kooks they produce and I actually like to know the truth about issues and not a totally one sided lie like I hear from so many people who are a member of some party. Some are like talking to some insane cult member if you have a differing opinion from them and only want to talk about facts, but they wind up insulting you, calling you names, and acting like a baby. I've had plenty of discussions with Republicans and Democrats and have run into many of the %26quot;our party is perfect and the other party is evil%26quot; kooks.

As for me? My political views aren't summarized by any one party and as best as I can label myself I would be somewhere between an Anarchist, Randian Libertarian, and atheist.

I did start as a Democrat back in the day, but as I learned more and the party changed so much that I left them. I don't have anything in common with them anymore! I mean they moved so far away from me ideologically that the Republicans are closer to how I am now! I'm not a follow the herd or what's trendy kind of guy and I question everything, because you can never just accept anything you hear as fact! I learned a lot from that affiliation and decided that the only clear and honest path is to be independent and free of all the social engineering that parties do that badly distorts one's reality. How many people have recently gone politically independent?I have been an independent for years. I vote for what I believe. Not what a party thinks I should believe. How many people have recently gone politically independent?I'm sticking with the GOP to see if we can bring it back to its roots, but if the answer is no, I won't stay forever.

(I wrote in Ron Paul for president.)How many people have recently gone politically independent?I am politically independent but my State (Commonwealth), Pennsylvania, only allows party members to participate in Primary elections. I used to be registered Independent but became frustrated having to sit out primariesHow many people have recently gone politically independent?I am a conservative and vote what I feel, but I sure did not vote for Obama!

    Presidential primary?

In Virginia, do you have to be a part of the political party in order to vote in its presidential primary? If so, how do I change my political party affiliation?Presidential primary?I know how it is in Texas and it's probably the same in Viriginia, but during a primary you can vote for any candidate in any primary, i.e. republican or democrat. You have to choose which party's primary you're voting in, but it does not commit you to vote for that party's candidate in the general election. Hope this helps!

But to be sure, check with your county voter registrar's office.Presidential primary?Just go out and register to vote, they will answer all your questions.Presidential primary?Yes, you need to be a party member for the primary vote. You can switch parties when you register to vote. You can do this at the DMV or here: https://ssl.capwiz.com/congressorg/e4/nv Good luck.Presidential primary?no i dont think so you can vote for whoever you want no matter what your political party is

How many states allow voters registered as unaffiliated to participate in primaries and caucuses?

I am doing some preliminary research. I am interested in sending letters to CT state officials to open the primaries to all voters. People should not be forced to attach themselves to a party to participate in democracy. It is a useless requirement as people can easily change their affiliation to participate in any party's primary they wish anyway and then change it back afterwards. How many states allow voters registered as unaffiliated to participate in primaries and caucuses? Are you talking about Independents?

Yes, I am ticked that they make you register for the party at the polling place that you're voting for. Then they send you a new voter registration card that you have to change back to Independent status anyway.

    What a waste !

  • Political party affiliation?

How much an impact do you believe your upbringing has on your current party affiliations? Would this not be why certain areas of the country are consistently republican or democratic? Should we work to change this so we do more thinking and less following?Political party affiliation?95%. of course WE should, but it will never happen. We have been brainwashed since birth, republicans are for big business and nascar fans, democrats are for hippies and black people. this is how the partys are seen, and these sterotypes will never change because the majority of the population will eat up any mental junk food the powers that be throw at them and love it.

This country is about 10 years away from a complete meltdown.

If you're on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?

Does that make you evil? Because I've seen nothing but slanderous, horrible, evil, racist, homophobic, downright disgusting remarks coming from the right on this site, designed to do nothing but hate on liberals rather than articulately or coherently express their support of lack thereof for an issue. How does that help anything? Who's minds are you trying to change? If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?I think both parties suck.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?Those conservatives have probably spent too much time reading liberal posts and have had their thinking compromised. If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?Man, you certainly have a lot of hate in you.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?I've seen nothing but rants from the Left.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?Okay, so if you read about people from the right slandering the dead and those who disagree with them, you should become a Democrat?

Oh, how the world is black and white to you people. If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?I see the opposite. Isn't it funny that we see what we want to see? I've been on Answers for over a year (not 24-7 mind you) and I'm more conservative than I was before. I'm not trying to change anyone's minds...I'm just expressing my opinions. If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?So what THIS was supposed to show maturity? I think you made a typo. The Republicans may be trying to learn the slander and ridicule the liberals have dished out for the last few years, but I don't think their hearts are in it. When you think of the horrid things said about Sarah Palin for no reason at all, you'd think these boards would be full of Kennedy joke, but they aren't. That would be cruel, and we conservatives are kind.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?I have been on this site for some time...I was independent when I started and I still am....the people and their hatred on this site cant change me.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?I agree their are some real douche bags on both sides of this, but who cares. It's a friggin' anonymous answers site. There will always be turds regardless of party affiliation. Disgusting remarks are not reserved for the right either, please see comments regarding Sarah Palin, her children, Bush, Limbaugh, the constant complaining that the whole damn republican party is racist. It never ends. It doesn't bother me though, I've got a pair.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?And I see nothing but ad hominem tactics from the Democrats. Funny what a world without rose-tinted lenses does to a person.

PeaceIf you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?What do you mean %26quot;without switching your party affiliation to democrat%26quot;? Do you mean Republican?

Because the Democrat party has been hijacked by radical liberal fools....so unless you mean %26quot;blue dog Democrats%26quot; then libs are pretty much Democrats.

    You're going to see horrible disgusting comments from both sides on here. Some people can't discuss the issues. I call people %26quot;jackasses%26quot;, %26quot;big dopes%26quot;, %26quot;jerks%26quot; and %26quot;dummy%26quot;.....and I still get reported. I don't think those are overly offensive words, I think it's funny. Some people on here take themselves way too seriously.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?Six months down only three and half years (minimum) left. Welcome to the crazy world of Republican paranoia.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?%26quot;Because I've seen nothing but slanderous, horrible, evil, racist, homophobic, downright disgusting remarks coming from the right on this site, designed to do nothing but hate on liberals rather than articulately or coherently express their support of lack thereof for an issue.%26quot;

And saying this is supposed to change who's mind? The hate goes both ways.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?It certainly appears that reasoned argument is not very popular on this site, and I think it's fair to say that most of the insulting invective does come from the Right. Often people act like this because they know their argument is weak and they try to deflect any close examination of their position. If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?You mean articulately as in the phrase %26quot;hate on liberals%26quot;, as you put it?

You do realize that that is not English, right?

If you think people here are going to change their minds, give it up now. There's like 200 million people in the US and about 20 here on Y! in the political section right now. What goes on here hardly matters.

What's really confusing is your main question. You appear to address Republicans by asking them if they don't switch to being a Democrat..., but then you complain about Republicans. It's a bit dyslexic.

Who is your question addressed to? Was it just a typo? Did you mean to say %26quot;...without switching your party affiliation to republican%26quot;?

Finally, you are only seeing this from one side, but not the other? From someone who is neither a Republican nor a Democrat, that's absurd. You all do it to each other, constantly. No one here is going to change their mind on anything. If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?It's like a whole generation of people have adopted the HATE persona! I have never seen anything like it, and the young one are the worst. I guess the %26quot;Moral Majority%26quot; has lost its meaning. They don't argue the issues...just insult the President and all Democrats! Could this be the result of lack of education or family discipline? What happened to those Americans? If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?I suppose you have never read the comments of some of the leftist vermin. You have a severe case of tunnel vision. If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?Yes you're not the only one. I've noticed it too. Right wingers on this site are very cold-hearted. To mock the death of man who honorably served for 46 years in the senate simply because he was a democrat is very immoral to me.If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?From your last post:

%26gt;You are an abomination, a stain on this fine country.

A show of your compassion and tolerance, yes or no? Please, by all means, continue your lecture :-)If you%26#039;re on YA for more than five minutes without switching your party affiliation to democrat....?Isn't the %26quot;right%26quot; describing the Republicans or conservatives, and the %26quot;left%26quot; describing the Democrats or liberals?

Wouldn't the supposedly %26quot;hateful%26quot; people on the right be wanting others to go Republican, not Democrat? Your initial question makes absolutely no sense. Apparently you just needed to rant. Do you feel better now?

Palins personal email account for official Government Business?

First, I would like to state I do not approve that a persons personal email attack was hacked and think that is a severe violation of privacy. However, Governor Palin, just like GW used her personal yahoo email account to conduct official business so there would be no record of it. My sources:

    http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/09

    http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

So my question is this, do you think Governor Palin and other members of our Government should be allowed to use their personal email accounts for official business?

Personally, I think using her personal Yahoo email account to conduct official government business is a violation of public record laws and it is shows how Palin, McCain are just like Bush and Cheney. These Public Record Laws are there for a reason and no one should be above the law!

There should be some form of punishment for this! This is why I encourage everyone to vote for Ron Paul! What do you think?

If McCain and Palin try and dance out of this one, then I will do more then vote for Ron Paul - I will change my party affiliation to independent.

Palins personal email account for official Government Business?some of you need to go find the screen shots that resulted from the hacks. There was a list of the emails in her in box, and some of them were indeed government business! Not that it makes the hacking of the account legal or ethically justified. Still, she does need to be held accountable for her actions as well.

Her use of the two Yahoo accounts, well at least one of them, was used to violate the laws regarding transparency in government. There are a few articles out on the web that discuss that her staff knowingly started to use this procedure to specifically get around the law. One of them has sort of blown the whistle on the group as a whole.

As for now turning around a giving my vote to a man whose opinions I don't agree with? I guess you are assuming that I'm not happy with my current plan, huh?

(btw, that time article is brilliant and puts the issue so clearly. also note that deleting the email accounts does not mean they can't be called up, Yahoo keeps backups of everything by law. http://www.time.com/time/politics/articlPalins personal email account for official Government Business?Cheney and Rove did this for years in the White House. They used RNC email accounts for official White House business.

More of the same. Palins personal email account for official Government Business? It was an attempt to dodge the disclosure rules. So much for the %26quot;transparency%26quot; Palin claims to support.Palins personal email account for official Government Business? There is nothing to %26quot;dance%26quot; out of. They were all personal emails. The only email even remotely connected to her job was one to the Lt. Governor lamenting the treatment of the press. Hardly, %26quot;government%26quot; business...... get you facts straight BEFORE you post!Palins personal email account for official Government Business?I agree - hacking an email account is a federal crime and those responsible should be prosecuted.

As should Palin for the various ethical and legal violations she has committed.Palins personal email account for official Government Business?there was no government information available! Color it anyway you personally wish, the bottom line is it is a felony and the creep is probably a damn liberalPalins personal email account for official Government Business?Nice lie.

Can you say WATERGATE? Obama will forever more be linked to Nixon!

This is as big a lie as the so-called 'troopergate' hoax and don't forget the anonymous waitress named Lucille!

You little jerks better NEVER leave Mommy's basement else us Americans will do you in!Palins personal email account for official Government Business? In this day and age is any device %26quot;pure%26quot; one way or the other? For example don't you have work and personal stuff on your email, laptop, cell phone, etc, etc.

Dems - they'll dig for dirt on Palin but they won't dig for oil.Palins personal email account for official Government Business?John McCain has launched an inquiry to find out what %26quot;email%26quot; is .

Palins personal email account for official Government Business?Hacking e-mail is a federal crime. A TV anchor who broke into his colleague檚 e-mail account recently pleaded guilty and faces a maximum five years in prison.

The law will catch up to the hackers, but what about the lowlifes who are now gleefully splashing the alleged contents of Palin檚 private e-mail account all over the Internet?

The Gawker smear machine ?see here for all the background you need ?has posted private family photos of Palin檚 children that were apparently stolen from the e-mail account.

They have used Bristol Palin檚 illegally obtained private cell phone number from her mom檚 private account, recorded her voicemail message, and posted it on their website.

They have reprinted her husband Todd檚 private e-mail address and son Track檚 private e-mail address.

You think this is just a harmless prank? Those of you who have had to deal with break-ins and identity theft know exactly what a burdensome process it is to recover from crimes like this.

Gawker knowingly and deliberately published illegally obtained photos of the Palin children.

    Now, we dance!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Ub7f687tPalins personal email account for official Government Business? You're right. Personal e-mail accounts should not be used for state business. Those documents should remain in the system as a matter of public record. Besides that, using an outside e-mail source, particularly a web-based one, is a security risk. We've obviously just seen the consequences of that.

What if, God forbid, this woman actually was Vice-President? Sensitive information could be easily culled from her yahoo account. Not very responsible of her to leave herself so vulnerable.Palins personal email account for official Government Business?I didn't see ANY e-mails of hers that were striclty OFFICIAL business being used on her private account. Palins personal email account for official Government Business?Check out this time magazine article about how Palin had 2 personal email accounts and one was wiped out after it was discovered by troopergate investigators and it is possible they will include an obstruction of justice charge as well!!http://www.time.com/time/politics/articlPalins personal email account for official Government Business? They are hypocrites

there should be some form of punishment....but there wont be they can pretty much do whatever they want

bush will pardon them...Palins personal email account for official Government Business? You have it backwards genius. One shouldn't use a Government account for personal email. Try and find something important to tie yourself into a knot over. If you don't want to vote Republican, then don't. You don't have to make them out to be evil, just as being a Democrat doesn't make one evil. Maybe you're evil. I don't know. Just relax man. Palins personal email account for official Government Business?I, as a member of the public, should have access to all emails for politicians who conduct government business.

However, this seems to be a habit with palin, to try and sneak around the back with potentially embarrasisng actions (is the baby hers or Bristol's? Did she really ask that librarian to censor books? When did she finally decide to kill the Bridge to Nowhere?)Palins personal email account for official Government Business? So far...all the email that have been released publicly online have been of a PERSONAL nature. There has been NOTHING even politically damaging. Why do you ppl all think you have to jump the gun with your smears and attacks. The woman was violated in a very nasty way, and all of a sudden the left smear machine starts in and trys to turn it around AGAIN on her. TypicalPalins personal email account for official Government Business? There was nothing %26quot;official business%26quot; in these emails! They were all personal. Just because someone is on your staff doesnt mean that everything you say to them is business. I have mostly my whole offices personal e-mail address and they have mine. So what??They were regular chit chat messages between friends. I'm sure that if she used the government e-mail address for these types of messages you would be bitching about her wasting taxpayer resources.

Regardless of who or how or why, retrieving someones e-mail without their permission is a federal crime!! Not only that but posting the contents, and pictures of her family to the internet is absolutely disgusting! I dont care if you like her or not, all Americans have the same rights. If her e-mail was under suspicion by someone they would have to go about the proper channels to get access. Stealing and taking the law into your own hands is never right. If everybody just handed out what they thought someone else deserved we would really be in a clusterf*ck.

I hope whoever did this gets prosecuted.Palins personal email account for official Government Business? Not only did she use her personal email address-she picked easy to identify addresses (govsarah and govpalin) then is surprised that hackers %26quot;found%26quot; her? And the Republicans are claiming that Obama supporters hacked her account while the hackers are still unknown?

The media has been used by the McCain campaign with faked outrage and outrageous distortions of the facts. This is to keep the true issues from being discussed intelligently-The economy and the Iraq/Afghanistan wars and the proposed war with Iran. The media is beginning to realize how they have been played. I hope the public wakes up to.

The media is getting wise to these tactics as stated in a Times-CNN Report:

    %26quot;By the weekend, many news organizations had mounted a backlash of their own, running prominent pieces accusing the self-branded %26quot;straight-talking%26quot; McCain of deceiving voters. %26quot;The 'Straight-Talk Express' has detoured into doublespeak,%26quot; announced the Associated Press, while the New York Times blared, %26quot;McCain Barbs Stirring Outcry as Distortions.%26quot;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GEtZlR3zp

As for Palin-her own distortions are beginning to surface-Her claim to have gone to Iraq? Countered by those controlling the boarder-she came to the boarder but did not enter. Her claim to have been to Ireland? Her plane landed for refueling-she did not get off that plane. That she oversaw 20% of the domestic fuel supply? In reality 3% to 7 % of the supply.Palins personal email account for official Government Business?Didn't see any official government business in her emails. I do find it a little odd that after the Dem's sent 30 lawyers to Alaska to investigate her records, etc. that her email was hacked. This smells to high heaven. *** Palins personal email account for official Government Business?Nice question! I am to understand that there is no security when you use E-Mail. Then I was more sure when Bush opened up his new rules. So why ***** about it. The rules have changed and will not be different no matter who becomes President. Live with it!Palins personal email account for official Government Business?Didn't I read about this somewhere else last week...? Oh! That's right! It made the front page of the National Inquirer that I lined my bird cage with. The birds had no problem at all dumping excrement all over it because that's all it's full of! Perhaps IF people put down their beers and cigs, rolled off the couch and waddle out into society some time, they might learn some real factual news instead of taking the tabloids as gospel. Personally, I think that Governor Palin is the breath of fresh air that Americans desperately NEED but a few that are sponging off others are afraid that their free meal ticket is about to disappear. I'm praying hard for a McCain-Palin landslide to victory so that the changes will finally come about!Palins personal email account for official Government Business?I think that any judgment on this matter is moot since it was gained by illegal measures ... much of the 'official use' is speculation based simply on subject line.

McCain and Palin will undoubtedly continue to investigate the original wrongdoing and ignore any allegations based on the results of illegal activity as they should do. Any official investigation based on the information garnered via illegal activity which may well be doctored will be suspect and no honest court will even hear the case ... therefore, there is nothing for them to dance out of.

One last time for clarity ... screenshots are not official since they can be modified.Palins personal email account for official Government Business?I don't know what the public records law is for Alaska. I do know what they are for Florida. Basically, the Fl courts have held that while e-mails are public record, their useful record life is deemed to be only as needed. Therefore, e-mails can be deleted right away and not violate the public records law. Only if they are printed, saved, or backed-up, do they become a more perminate record. The line of reasoning for the court was that e-mails are no different than phone calls. I'm sure some public officials use their person telephone or cell phones for business too.

When I worked in local government, we had a server that went down and so we used our personal e-mail accounts. Did this create a public record? Technically yes, but under the law, the record need only be kept as long as it served value, to be determined by the party involved. Therefore, I deleted them.

Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?

Please anser the following numbered questions.

    1. SHould president Bush be impeached? Yes or No

    2. If yes, for what?

    3. If yes, what will YOU do to be proactive in YOUR government?

    4. Do you think Bush has ties to the Ladin family? Like Oil?

    5. Did you know the Ladin family was flown out of the country along with other Saudis 2 days after 9/11?

    6. Did you know that 14 of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudi's?

    7. Do you know how much of our country they own? (pssst it's billions)

    8. Is it a coincidence that Bushkin has lengthy oil industry ties to the Saudi's, and they go unpunished for 9/11 involvement?

    9. Does ANYONE in our government have the guts to do ANYHTHING?

    10. Are we so overworked and scared that we have ceased being proactive?

    11. Does our government fear us? Or are we, Americans, the ones living in fear?

Yeah....I'm dang mad....can't wait till November 08...bye Bush. And ...need to go change my party affiliation to Dem!Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?1. Yes.

    2. We can start with obstruction of justice, then we can get into willful violation of international law.

    11. Both. Bush is afraid, so he uses his fear as a dangerous weapon.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government? No, no reason.

But Democrats in Congress should be Impeached and Charged With Treason.

Democrats are not overworked. Because most of them are on Welfare. We are supporting these young %26amp; healthy Democrats with our taxes, and they still whine and cry and squeal.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?I think your questions are just plain goofy.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government? We should. But we won't.

Bush has admitted violating specific federal laws. Federal war crimes (18 USC 2441, also confirmed by the US Supreme Court), warrantless wiretapping in violation of FISA (18 USC 2511), contempt and obstruction of congress (2 USC 192, 18 USC 1001) -- that's what he's admitted doing, so a prima facie case is trivial to establish.

I'm not going to speculate about the remaining conspiracy theory issues, because they are not relevant to the legal analysis.

And no, Congress does not have the spine to do anything, which means whoever takes over will be able to abuse power and violate federal law with impunity to exactly the same extent.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?Without a doubt Bush should be Impeached, the problem is our entire government is corrupt, what few decent politicians that are there are out numbered.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?of course

will everyone please call him and email him and ask him to resign

he is destroying our planetShould we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government? No we can't impeach Bush. Idiocy is not a crime. I am involved at the local state and national level.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?SHOULD YOU BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS,HE DID WHAT ANY AMERICAN WOULD HAVE DONE WHEN HE STARTED TO BE PRESIDENT AND THE TERRORIST ATTACKED US,HE BROUGHT THEM THE FIGHT AND GOD BLESS HIM THAT HE DID, BUT IT IS TIME TO FINISH WITH THE FIGHTING AND LETS START TO SEE IF WE CAN WORK WITH THE PEOPLE TO RESOLVE THIS MESS.Should we impeach Bush? If so, will you be proactive in your government?I think you'll have an extremely hard time coming up with articles of impeachment. Policy decisions cannot be construed as high crimes and misdemeanors.

    About voter registration?

I live in California, I've been a registered voter for awhile with no party affiliation. I typically just vote in state, local elections and on propositions.

  • How do I change my political affiliation?

When I was younger and coming out of hs I was in a very liberal area and registered with the democratic party and voted for Al Gore. After going to college and really seeing both sides of things I've switched sides and voted for Bush in 04. I really see myself as with the GOP now, but I'm still registered as a democrat. How do I change this so that I can vote in the GOP primaries? Also, being in a very liberal area, would it be more to my advantage to stay registered as a democrat and just vote GOP? My father is a businessman and works with a lot of politicians and when I was younger this is what he told me he did. If anyone else has had these thoughts or went through this process I'd like to hear about it.How do I change my political affiliation?First question - go to the board of elections in your state to change your party status. You may be able to get the form online. It's just a matter of registering again.

Second question - do what feels right to you, not just what your father did. If you stay registered as a democrat you won't be able to vote in GOP primaries as you said, but you could sully the democratic primary. Really, it's your choice. That's why this is a free country. How do I change my political affiliation?go to you local court house election board...How do I change my political affiliation?Go to the County Board of Elections and fill out a card and select the party that you want to be a member of!!!How do I change my political affiliation?Just go to your polling place on primary day. When they ask you which ballot you want, ask for the republican ballot. Bam... your're a republican.

But before you do that. Please, Please, Please, watch a little less FoxNews and a little more of any other new source. How do I change my political affiliation?Matt, all you have to do is go to the town office or city hall where you are registered to vote and tell them that you want to change your party affiliation. They will hand you a form to fill out and make the change in their register. If you are not sure where you %26quot;belong%26quot; just check off %26quot;no party affiliation%26quot; then you don't commit to either one.

Hope this helps. How do I change my political affiliation?I can't possibly conclude how with getting educated that you decided to become republican. Most people as they gain knowlege and understanding they go the other way! Must have to do with the business angle. I really dont think that your business concerns are large enough to make you feel that you are better off as a republican, If you were, I seriously doubt you would be here!

Anyway- a person needs to vote their consience, so whatever that may be I encourage you to do it!How do I change my political affiliation?By the time you got to graduate school, you should have figured out that Republicans are uneducated liars and cheats.

It sounds like your father knows best how to continue the tradition. Take his advice and join the underworld. How do I change my political affiliation? You can change your registration by mail....you didn't mention what state you are living in, but if you do a search of your state + voter registration, you should be able to download the application, complete it and mail it back. As far as should you change your affiliation...you have the right to change your affiliation...that is why we are a democracy! I would say go for it! Good luck! How do I change my political affiliation?Since my area don't ask me what party I am in it's just vote whomever you want now. I am registered republican but, I am actuallly independant. However, Independant is where I want to be.How do I change my political affiliation?Bro..in Graduate School, and don't know how to change a party affiliation.......stay with the Dem's

How do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries?

I registered Democrat at the time of registration because it seemed the Republicans expanded the federal government too much. Now, I don't think either party tells it like it is or really cares. Dr. Ron Paul is a Constitutional libertarian, so I need to vote for him in the Primaries but I've got this icky Democrat tag on me, and I would rather not have the icky Republican tag either.

    I felt like providing those details so i don't fuel flames of %26quot;YEAH SEE DEMOCRATS SUCK, REPUBLICANS RULE.%26quot;

I just want to know where I have to go exactly or what I can do online to change my affiliation to the Republican party.

ThanksHow do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries? The truth is that each state has different rules about this. Some states hold %26quot;open primaries%26quot; in which anyone can request any ballot (Republican or Democrat) when they come to vote in primaries. Other states hold what I call %26quot;semi-open%26quot; primaries, where voters registered as Independent get to select which party's candidates they can vote for in primaries. Most states, though, require you to be registered in the party in order to vote in that party's primaries. It seems unfair to me, but that's the way it usually works. But don't worry. You don't have to tell your friends that you're a registered Republican. Just check in at your Voters Registration office, and they're the only ones who need to know.

By the way, Kudos on your choice of candidate. I think Ron Paul will be a breath of fresh air.How do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries?Just fill out a voter's registration form and call yourself %26quot;undeclared%26quot; then you can vote in whichever primary you'd like. How do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries?actually i dont think it matters what your card says, you can vote in the party of your choice... but if you vote in a primary for one party, you can't vote in primaries for any other party is the way i understand itHow do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries?Go to town hall see the register of voting pick any party you want or stay unaffiliatedHow do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries? That whole rant seems kinda shallow. Why give it all up for a(R) who also wants to be (L)--a political transsexual?

If Ron Paul writes a book--go buy it. If he comes to your town--go see him. If he authors a bill--write your Reps and tell them to back it. You need to take the views regarding your politics to the necessary extremes. Thinking that changing parties to follow some idealist or another is trivial, it also shows poor reasoning and a lack of core values. How do I switch from Democratic party to Republican to vote for Dr. Ron Paul in the primaries? You register Deocrat or Republican that isn't Libertarian. These are for the primaries. You'll have to contact your local voting registration offiice at the country level and ask how you can change your registration.

It's possible it won't make any difference, if your candidate doesn't appear on the ballot.

    Political Interview *POLL*?

What do you think about our political system?

How do you get involved in politics?

What political issues are important or should candidates focus on?

What advice do you have for new/young voters and participants?

How can I have the greatest impact on out political system?

What have you learned, over the years, about our political system?

What party do you belong to?

Have you changed party affiliation?Political Interview *POLL*?Wow! That's a lot of questions. Here goes:

    1) Our political system is corrupt. You can't entirely trust anyone.

    2) The way to get involved in politics is to start looking online. Find a candidate you support and start helping with the campaign.

    3) For everyone, important issues are different. I mean, some focus on abortion, gay marriage and moral issues, where others focus on foreign policy and economy. I think this election our biggest issue is the economy seeing as how we're headed for The Great Depression Part 2.

    4) New and young voters should get informed. Don't let mommy and daddy or your best friends tell you who to vote for. Read and research for yourself. Decide which party you support the most then look at the candidates too. You don't just vote for a candidate, you vote for the party too.

    5) You have to just get involved in the system. There are many different local things you can do to get involved. Start small and go as big as you want.

    6) I've learned that you can't believe everything you hear. You have to find things on your own.

    7) I am a registered Republican.

    8) I have not changed my party affiliation but I have considered voting for Obama this term and I still may. McCain has a lot of ideals and policies that I don't agree with.Political Interview *POLL*?It's broken

It needs to be torn down to be rebuilt

    3. The war, healthcare, environment, equal rights

    4. Research for yourselves, dont pay attention to media hype or rabid talk from either party

    5. Just by being involved and fighting for what you believe

  • Are republicans picking the democratic canidate?

How do you feel that voters can change their party affiliation at the last minute to vote in the other party檚 caucuses and primaries?

There are even web sites that encourage republicans to do this just to keep Hillary from getting the nomination. Are republicans picking the democratic canidate? It seems possible. Obama has carried a lot of red states and the votes cast for the Dems is much greater than the Repubs. I feel they are supporting Obama because they will tear him to shreads in the general election. Hillary can stand up to the attacks. Are republicans picking the democratic canidate? If it is true, it is a brilliant strategy and I am all for it....

Whatever it takes to keep the Wicked Witch in New York is worth it....

Can we build a fence around Manhattan? Are republicans picking the democratic canidate?Well that plan may back fire if obama gets elected or Hillary becomes Vp. If she still wins, wow I congratulate her.Are republicans picking the democratic canidate?Actually, a few Republicans I know have talked about voting for Hillary so that she will win, because they feel they have a better chance of beating her in the general election than they would against Barack.

Personally, I think that it's up to you how you spend your vote. You only get one, so if voting against someone is more important than voting for someone else, that's your decision.

But then again, I think it's a bit pointless because there aren't enough Republicans who will follow this strategy to make too much of a difference.

I tended to vote Republican right up until 9/11. But when the neocons hijacked the party and turned it into a big-government monstrosity, I couldn't vote for them anymore. It was no longer a conservative party.

These days, I'm pretty much independent, but I tend to vote for Libertarians. I find I have the most in common with their ideals. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?I voted in the election of 2004 (I turned 18 only 6 months after the 200 election and was quite sad to miss it).

I voted for John Kerry. I was a Democrat at the time. Now I am an Independent. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?I was able to first vote in the 2000 election. I have to admit I voted for Bush. As embarrassed as I am to say it, I admit it. I have been registered Republican ever since then, however have only voted Republican the one time in 2000. I again will be voting against the Republican party this year. I keep hoping that sometime soon a real Republican will run, not some weird hybrid of the old Republicans. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?The last one, I voted for Kerry. My part affiliation has not changed, especially since Bush drove us even deeper into the ground. We don't need 4 more years of Bush, which would be McCain. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?1988. This means that, as they say on the floor of Congress, %26quot;I have the high honor and distinct privilege%26quot; of having voted against Republican candidates named George Bush four times. And I regret a grand total of none of those votes.

What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?Good question. The first election I voted in was 1992. I was a fairly strong supporter of George Bush, Sr. going into the election year, and was a registered Republican. Then the economy went sour and it quickly became clear that the party did not have our best interests at heart, and Bush quickly came across as trying harder to win the election than trying to help the people. I voted for Clinton. I'm now registered as an independent voter, and I tend to vote Republican at the local level, but I have not voted for a Republican Presidential candidate ever. There never has been one I liked. I'm still waiting for one to bring the Republican party back to what it once was! What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?Nixon in 1972. I was a real loner in high school but still voted. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?1996. Slick Willy...and...still Democratic. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?2000 I voted for Gore. My party affiliation has stayed the same. I condiser myself independant but always lean democratic. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?This will be my first election that I am able to vote in.What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?Poor Gerald Ford! I've changed since then. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?I voted against Nixon, and every republican since.

Obama/Biden '08, and '12!!!!!!What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?I voted for Jimmy Carter and haven't voted for a Democratic Presidential candidate since. He burned me bad. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?This one. I missed being 18 on the last one by exactly a year. I would have voted for Kerry had I been eligible. What was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?Ross PerotWhat was the first Presidential election you were able to vote in?Nixon's second term. I voted for him because I was still bitter about 'Nam and thought he would insure it was worth it all. I was wrong.

Should voter registration workers be allowed to ask if you want to change parties to vote in a primary?

I found out today that California seems to have a different understanding of the word %26quot;independent%26quot; than virtually everyone else in the United States because, when I was asked what my political affiliation was waaaaay back when I first moved to this state, I said %26quot;independent%26quot; meaning %26quot;I do not belong to a political party%26quot;.

They registered me as a member of the America's Independent Party, which is comprised mostly of the type of people I wouldn't piss on to put out if they were on fire (it's one of those %26quot;almighty Gawd made all this only for the people we like and he gave us this gun to shove our opinion down everyone else's throats with%26quot; sort of party that really makes the Tea Party look like they're campaigning on a platform of orgiastic communist buttsex and free bong-hits for all).

Upon discovering this by virtue of the fact I just received my first ever America's Independent Party ballot instead of the usual general ballot, I went to the registration office and immediately re-registered to remove that party affiliation.

    While doing so, the registration clerk asked me if I wouldn't like to %26quot;switch over%26quot; political parties long enough to vote in one of the party primaries and then change back to my actual political affiliation after the vote was over... which struck me as being more than a little politically dishonest, and frankly offensive, as if I'm the kind of person who would say %26quot;yes, I'd like to become a Republican long enough to cast a vote for the candidate I think would be least likely to win the election.%26quot;

No offense, but how craven do you have to be to engage politics in that manner? If you can't justify your position using more honest tactics than that, you've got a pretty good indication you're on the wrong side of the issue.

Privately, of course, you kind of have to rely on everyone's honor for them not to do that, but publicly, should the people who register voters be allowed to encourage such voter tactics, or should there be rules in place against them essentially encouraging voters to game the system?Should voter registration workers be allowed to ask if you want to change parties to vote in a primary?I went to register as an Independent for the 2008 primary but there was only the California Independent which is not affiliated with the national Independent party. I did not vote at all because I would have to switch to Republican party in order to vote for Ron Paul. You can switch from one party to the other and back again but I didnt want to do that. So I was registered as %26quot;unaffiliated%26quot;. Now I learn I am called a NP (non partisan).

Then a card came in the mail that asking me if I wanted to vote for Republican or Democratic candidates in June as an NP. Because we don't have an open primary, I had to choose one or the other, or not vote. In 2008 Republicans allowed unaffiliated voters to vote for them, but the Democrats did not.

The way it works in California is you are forced to vote as a Republican or Democrat because they don't want an Independent party. If you want to change that situation, vote Yes on Prop 14 for open primaries. The only catch is that the candidates don't have to reveal their own party.Should voter registration workers be allowed to ask if you want to change parties to vote in a primary?YES ! ! Cant stand Droopy Dog.

Should voter registration workers be allowed to ask if you want to change parties to vote in a primary? They are not allowed to ask you to switch to A PARTY per se but can ask if you want to vote one way or another?

I agree with you that a form should be of both parties and all candidates as you should be able to chose your candidate regardless of affiliation as a RIGHT TO CHOOSE WHOM YOU LIKE.

Since when did McCain turn into a compassionate socialist? I would like to hear people's views about his plan.?

McCain is going to order the Sec Treasury to buy up bad mortgages. He seems to be outdoing the Democratic nominee. Since when did he change party affiliation? How do Conservatives feel about his plan? It seems to go beyond even what Obama was proposing. And also isn't this a little late?Since when did McCain turn into a compassionate socialist? I would like to hear people's views about his plan.?Actually, it's hilarious.

McCain %26quot;suspended%26quot; his campaign to work on the bail-out legislation, and he touts his %26quot;leadership%26quot; to get it done. Then he goes on TV and proposes this %26quot;new%26quot; plan.

Except that the bailout plan that he %26quot;lead%26quot; and %26quot;worked on%26quot; already has that authority in it. Doesn't he know what he worked on?

And didn't he say that AFTER he said he would freeze government spending?

He's an idiot.Since when did McCain turn into a compassionate socialist? I would like to hear people's views about his plan.?He became a socialist when he had seen FL, NC, IA leaning Obama's way. He's a bad strategist and a worse tactician. Maybe not him personally but his staff sucks. All his decisions in this campaign have been for the next two weeks versus the duration of the campaign.Since when did McCain turn into a compassionate socialist? I would like to hear people's views about his plan.?McCain may say anything now, to win this election.

I voted once in 2004, and since then 1-5 times a year schmucks come to my door asking me to sign something. I'd like to change my affiliation or all together remove my name. Is there a way to do it? Who knows, if there is then maybe I'll stop being called for jury duty every damned year. How to change the political party you have affiliated with?Go to your County Clerk's Office and tell the person at the desk you want to either change your party affiliation or be dropped off the voter rolls. They will gladly do either for you free of charge.

As for getting off the jury duty rolls you have to turn in your driver's license at the motor vehicle office. How to change the political party you have affiliated with?A lot of people register Republican because Republicans seldom get called for jury duty.

Call the League of Women Voters in your area to change your party.

Arizona does NOT base its jury duty on registered voters...It bases it on driver's licenses, so removing or waiving your right to vote will not change your jury duty requests.

Second, how has Obama treated women disrespectfully? The pastors at his church, yes, but him? I am a hyper sensitive HIllary supporter and campaign junkie and I cannot think of anything that Obama has done that I thought was disrespectful of women.

Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Kerry and Gore - yes. They failed to act regarding sexism and media bias - and they should be outed and discredited for it. • Why do people change political parties?

I just want to hear from those who have changed party affiliations and how they vote. What made you change? Was it a sudden event, or a long process? Why do people change political parties?I used to vote republican, but they are getting confused and forgetting about important things like separation of church and state and some personal rights are being infringed. Thus, I will vote democrat next election. Why do people change political parties?when the party does not follow what they preachWhy do people change political parties?Because its easier to be a communist nazi. Why do people change political parties?Typically people change because the platform of the party changed, I think for most it is a process not an event. Why do people change political parties? The parties in this country are getting so generic (read: timid) that you go for the person, not the party. I'm usually Republican but I'd be happy to vote Democratic if the right candidate(s) were proffered. Why do people change political parties?I think people change political parties mainly for two reasons; 1. If the personal political goals do not match with the political party. 2. Political parties change their Mission and vision reguraly so they keep havind the same roots but thinking diferent. Why do people change political parties?I have changed. Twice. When I declare a party, I stay informed about that party's platform. If the party starts to espouse positions that are morally or politically unacceptable to me, I either find another party that more closely matches my beliefs, or I go independent. Why do people change political parties?Generally people change political parties because the party they supported changed their stand on major issues, or becomes affiliated with a political group the person doesn't want to be associated with. I changed from pc to ndp because the leader of the pc party wanted closer ties to Bush in the states, and got a lot of monitary support from fundamentalist groups. Why do people change political parties? If you're a politician, more than likely you change parties because it's easier to get votes from if you belong to the party of choice in that area. If you're a voter, it's because a) you've become disgusted by the actions of those in power in your party or b) your feelings on certain issues (those most important to you when casting a vote) have changed over time. Why do people change political parties? The Republicans are making me very angry with the illegal immigration issue. Spending is also crazy. Both Republicans and Democrats are nuts saying there is a surplus in the budget when we a eight trillion in debt. I am not sure where to go next but its evident these two parties are bankrupt. Why do people change political parties? While I have not changed party affiliations I believe the reason people change is quite simple. What they thought was true is not and the other party seems closer to what they believe.

My personal belief is to not be affiliated with either major party but register as an independent. It has always mystified me as to why anyone would vote a straight party ticket. To me it is the same thing as the old saying, %26quot;my country right or wrong%26quot;. How foolish is that. There are a lot of Jewish Germans that may tell you otherwise.

One of the most important things we do is to try to insure we have the best, and honest, candidate in office. If you don't think what they do can hurt you if your wrong, you better think again.

We were the first country to try that novel approach to government and we do so take it for granted.

How do i change my political party affiliation?

If I changed my party affiliation today could I still vote in the next election?

Is there a limit to how close to election time that your can change your party affiliation? I would like to register as independent simply because I never vote in the primary elections. I feel like today檚 political lines are not as critically important as they once where. If I changed my party affiliation today could I still vote in the next election? If the only reason you are changing parties is because you don't normally vote in the primary, you may opt to be %26quot;safe%26quot; and wait until after the election to change your party.

As for deadlines, it probably all depends on where you live, but around where I checked, you have up to 29 days prior to the election to change your political affiliation, either by post mark or online.

That gives you until October 10th, the day the registration books close. If I changed my party affiliation today could I still vote in the next election? You don't have to vote the same way you are registered, so if you are concerned about being able to vote, wait until after the election then change your affiliation. If I changed my party affiliation today could I still vote in the next election? You do not have to declare a party affiliation to vote. (I don't know what their platform is, but it is a recognized minor party in my state.)
